The Who and Why

We are a family who have made the groundbreaking discovery that food is good. More than that, we wanted a recipe website where recipes were not about how fast you can make them, but something that allows you to take your time.

There is a time management technique that involves "Parkinson's Law", which states "The duration of a task will expand to fill the time allotted." The hack is simple: Allot a smaller amount of time, say the bake time of a recipe, and you will be far more productive with your self-set challenge!

This doesn't need to involve a recipe. Just setting a timer or running a metronome can help. Really, though, isn't it better to have cookies at the end of work?

How do I do this dark magic?

It's only dark magic if you burn the food!

It's super simple:

  1. Pick a recipe with the time you want to be productive!
  2. Follow the steps
  3. Once you get to the part where you must wait, go work on something! Homework, taxes, emails, anything!
  4. Find that you make lots of progress once the timer goes off
  5. Take a break and enjoy your goods

Our recipes have the downtime listed rather than the full time for your convenience.

Can you explain it in the weird Witchy style?

Absolutely. Ahem.

You know how when you bake cookies, it takes forever? This is actually a time dilation spell in the works! You can use the infinite amount of time it takes for cookies to complete baking to get anything done you wish! Homework, studying, anything!

Oh, by the way, Hocus Focus Club is entirely free. Welcome!
